Yesterday I took a trip back in time. Well, not quite but I really did feel like a hippie!
It was my Aunite's 50th birthday party and she decided to go with a sixties/ seventies theme. I originally considered dressing up as a mod with a black and white dress, then I thought about going as a punk... but in the end I decided to go with the whole hippie look.
I kept my outfit quite simple with just a plain white dress (Primark), my swede boots (Mango), a DIY tie-dye shirt (shown below), cheap hippie-style accessories from Primark and little daisy chains painted up one arm and leg.
I am terrible at taking photos of myself so here is a little video I put together of my outfit:
Anyway, this is the first time I have ever tried tie-dying and I didn't really want to go out and buy many things for it so I decided to just use what I had in the flat. From what I had read, tie-dying works best on cotton but I had went and bought a polyester shirt! This worked out well in the end though as I used acrylic paint rather than fabric dye. Here is how I made my shirt:
This was my finished shirt:
Have you been to a fancy dress party lately? If so, what did you dress up as? Have you tried tie-dying before? How did it turn out? :)
