Journeys.

Poster I made about my journey to university: long, boring, dull, grey, monotonous, colourless, repetitive, empty, never ending...I could go on.

Sitting on the bus this morning, wasting an hour and a half of my life looking at the night time streets of Ayrshire, got me to thinking about journeys. As a child, I always thought I loved journeys. We used to pack up the car with books and snacks and play quizzes and games to pass the time; these were extremely entertaining as my parents always disagreed on one or two answers and would spend the full time trying to prove who was right. As I've got older, however, I've realised that I really don't enjoy journeys. I'm not saying I don't like travelling or sitting in the car, as you will know, the car is the best place to be on a cold winters day with the heating on or even on a hot summers day... It's just the journey. It's not necessarily university that I don't enjoy, it's the journey there. It's not necessarily Scotland that I don't like, just the distance between here and home. But in life, you have to go through journeys to get to your destination; the place you want to be and the person you want to become. Your whole life is a journey so you should enjoy it!

That's my wisdomous (is that a new word I've just made?!) words for the day! I will post some cupcake recipes later when I get home after uni (after a train journey and walk in the freezing cold...)

Are there any long journeys you have to go through every day? Do you enjoy them? What do you do to make your journey more interesting? Are you going to start using the word wisdomous?! haha (:

  1. Oh I'm SO going to start using the word wisdomous ;)

In all seriousness, life is a journey. I never want to get comfortable in thinking I've got it all figured out because in the grand scheme of things I do not...

Every day I learn new things, go new places and my path in life is either changed or confirmed...I only get 1 life so I'm going to make the journey count.

PS no long journeys in my day to day routine....a 20 minute car ride to work...My husband and I often sing like crazy people to pass the time ;)

I totally agree that you should make the journey count and live life to the fullest!

I wish I only had a 20 minute car journey! it takes me that long to just walk back from the train station! haha
